SFD SATURDAY MORNING WEEKLY 29
The last time, I went to Sotto Sotto…which means below, below…I was impressed! The staff blows your mind, because they are literally amazing! They take the time to get to know you, and make you feel like you’re part of their family.
FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES
Sotto Sotto
We are excited to once again feature Andre Bharti as guest author this week. Please enjoy his restaurant review of Sotto Sotto!
The last time, I went to Sotto Sotto…which means below, below…I was impressed!
The staff blows your mind, because they are literally amazing! They take the time to get to know you, and make you feel like you’re part of their family.
Start with the Tre Gusti salad. Arugula salad, fresh pears, gorgonzola and walnuts. This will clean you up for the main course.
Mama passed away a few years ago; but that doesn’t mean you won’t get the famous Lasagna, from her home-based recipe. It’s to die for.
The steak, which I always recommend medium-rare (so you can taste that cow) is so delicious, that the meat literally drops off your tongue.
For those fish eaters, please try the salmon. It is worth the price in gold. My mother can attest to that.
For dessert, get the legendary Sotto's Tiramisu. It’s a time honoured classic; and can be classic or Strawberry. Either way, you’re not going to lose.
Finally, if you’re not too stuffed, have an Espresso and a Sambuca with 3 coffee beans; for love, life and happiness!
This place is not to miss! And please enjoy as you loosen your belt after your meal.
TECH SPOTLIGHT
A New Era in Battery Innovation
Move over, lithium-ion—there’s a new contender in town! Texas-based startup Group1 has just unveiled the world’s first Potassium-ion battery (KIB) in the industry-standard 18650 form factor. This breakthrough technology not only promises to power up our devices but also holds great potential for electric vehicles, offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional batteries.
Why is this a big deal? For starters, KIB batteries are made from readily available potassium ions, dodging the need for critical minerals like nickel and cobalt. Plus, they play nice with existing lithium-ion battery production lines, so manufacturers can make the switch without a hitch. With samples already in the hands of top OEMs, we might see these batteries hitting the road sooner than you think!
REAL ESTATE SPOTLIGHT
20 Valifor Place ~ $949,000
Do you like the east end (I lived there for a few years and loved having a little less traffic) and are you looking for a 2 bedroom under 1 mil? Here is a cutie that might fit the bill.
FRANKIE’S SONG OF THE WEEK
Instead of Frankie’s song of the week, we’re featuring Andre Bharti’s song of the year, enjoy!
As a guitar player myself, I have to say this is my favourite song from this year, we call 2024.
Hozier has blown it out of the park with this one…talking about staying up late but his girl is too good to stay up late. It sounds like a strange drama that we all deal with.
Take a listen to him and his band. Amazed and blown away. He literally rocks it out. People don’t listen enough to lyrics. Listen to his, and his band play this to destiny.
Honesty…this is the jam of this Summer of 2024. I can’t think of a song that compares to this.
Okay, the late great Sinead O’Connor…nothing compares to you. Nobody will.
Please give us your thoughts to SFD!!

MOVIE REVIEW OF THE WEEK
"The Menu"
Wow, this is an interesting one.
"The Menu", starring Ralph Fiennes, and with an amazing cast including one of my faves, John Leguizamo, and Nicholas Hoult, amongst many other brilliant actors, brings an intriguing take on being the greatest chef of all time. That chef is Mr. Fiennes.
Basically, a large crew of wealthy diners show up to "Chef's" much acclaimed restaurant, run by Ralph Fiennes. What they don't know is that Fiennes does not mix bones about his clients or the way they react to the food at this fine dining establishment.
What starts out as good times, turns into some turbulent ones. Fiennes, as usual, gives his calm demeanor as he commands his employees in his kitchen. He rules with a stoic iron fist; but he expects the best from not only his staff, but also the patrons that took a boat to get this island getaway.
What starts as an amazing life of fine dining, goes completely the other way.
I'd rather you watch it with open eyes, as I don't want any spoilers.
But it's not the movie you expected when you turned it on. But that's a good thing.
This is not a movie that will watch with you little children, but it will have you sticking to your television and wondering what's next.
I really appreciated the beautiful acting and the amazing cinematography. But most of all, I appreciated that I could not predict what would be coming next.
Highly recommend this to anybody who loves cooking...as long as they prepare to be cooked.
