FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

Sénéquier in the port of St. Tropez
This must be the most well-known restaurant in all of St. Tropez and definitely a fave for our family. It's right on the water with yachts right in front of you, tied up with parties going on. The boardwalk is full of people walking by in the little town, with kids holding their ice creams, couples walking hand in hand in spectacular outfits, and locals wearing their cool French vibes. I stand out like a sore thumb, with my wife often calling me the loudest man in France.
My son comes here for the sole 🐟 — it's dynamic, cooked perfectly, and nicely deboned at your table. We had shrimp with basil and the crispy calamari to start. The girls split a paillard de poulet (flattened chicken cooked on a flat grill).
The food here is great — it's everything you would want for a restaurant by the sea. We love it, and it always starts our holiday.
Plenty of party bars for after-dinner fun.
If you're looking for more of a supper club–style restaurant, I would hit L'Opera. Some people think it's a bit cheesy, but I think it's just awesome, with fun singers, great music, and good food. Don't forget your Visa 🤦♀️ — it can be pricey.

🤖 OpenMind Wants to Be the “Android” of Humanoid Robots — Yes, Really 🤖
Forget robot overlords — OpenMind just wants them to run a smoother OS.
The Silicon Valley startup is aiming to become the Android of humanoid robotics with its new software layer, OM1. Think of it like an open-source brain that any robot can plug into — hardware-agnostic, emotion-neutral, and hopefully bug-free.
Founded by Stanford professor Jan Liphardt, OpenMind believes the future of robots isn’t just about doing your laundry or fetching your snacks — it’s about interaction. As robots move from factory lines to family rooms, they need software that can think and respond more like... well, us.
OpenMind also rolled out a new protocol called FABRIC, which helps robots verify identities and share context with their metal buddies. The idea? Let one robot learn something, and suddenly they all know it. (Imagine if your dog learned a trick and your neighbor’s dog just got it too. Spooky, but cool.)
Their first real-world test? A fleet of ten robotic dogs hitting homes in September. Yes, robo-dogs. They're cute(ish), clever, and about to be the best listeners in your household.
Backed by a fresh $20 million from the likes of Pantera Capital and Coinbase Ventures, OpenMind is charging ahead with one goal: get the bots out there, hear what the humans love (or hate), and iterate fast.
Because apparently, even robots need version updates.

OTHER POSH THINGS

Euphoria at the Grand Palais: Bubbles, Balloons & Buzz
The Grand Palais has officially reopened—and it’s more spectacular than ever. After four years of meticulous renovation, this Parisian icon has been completely transformed: think restored glass domes, 40 new lifts, a reopened west wing, cafés, kids’ zones and open public vistas not seen since the 1930s. It’s lighter, grander, and finally, fully back.
To celebrate, the Grand Palais has invited Euphoria—the travelling immersive exhibition by the Balloon Museum—to take over the newly unveiled nave until 7 September 2025. And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: huge inflatable artworks, light-and-sound installations, sensory tunnels, a “bubble bath” of black balls with 360° visuals, and more air-themed joy than you knew you needed. Euphoria features around 20 monumental interactive installations by leading international artists, including Parreno, Creed, Minujín, Hyperstudio & team, Lozano-Hemmer, Gander, Murakami, Smigla-Bobinski, Lancelin, Schweder, Völker, Walala, Yitian, SpY, and MOTOREFISICO.
Euphoria not only delivers a breathtaking collision of art and play but also marks the Grand Palais’s new era as an accessible, family-friendly cultural hub. The exhibition’s scale and ambition mirror the building’s restored architecture and renewed vibrancy.
Each installation plays with scale and perception—giant balloons, immersive light-and-sound environments, and spaces you can slip into or touch—inviting guests to become part of the art through movement and gesture.
It’s dazzling, interactive, and Instagram catnip.
One of the most striking highlights of Euphoria is the enormous balloon pool—a vast sea of black inflatable balls that invites visitors to dive in, wade through, or simply float atop. It’s both surreal and sensory, surrounded by 360° projections and immersive sound that shift as you move, creating the illusion of swimming through space or shadow. Equal parts playful and hypnotic, it's a moment of total escapism! The Grand Palais is a cultural playground, and this is only one of several exhibitions now running. Whether you’re chasing balloons or kinetic sculpture, it’s well worth a visit this summer (or any time of the year!)

100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES
Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

#32
“It is a simple one but I think we all forget to do it.
1 glass of wine then 2 waters.
Grab the water instead of the diet coke.
Pour a water first thing when you wake up.
Have some in the fridge with a few slices of lemon or even some fruit to give it a hint of flavour.
More water fountains throughout cities.
Donate a well in Africa.
Don’t throw garbage, chemicals, or waste into lakes.
Keep your Yeti around.
1 Negroni then 3 waters.
Water, water, water, water, have more of it, it must be good for the brain.”

🧠A Weekly Dose of Psychology You Didn’t Know You Needed 🧠

Hi everyone! I’m Maya, I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and Psychology (basically, I can analyze both a crime scene and your overly complicated coffee order). I’m also an incoming Master of Arts candidate in Counselling Psychology, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how the human brain works, and why it sometimes does the exact opposite of what we want it to do.
Welcome to week six! Since we’re knee-deep in sunny skies and iced-matcha season, here’s your gentle reminder to soak it up - because your brain is quietly stockpiling sunshine for later.
And no, that’s not just a metaphor.
🧠 Psych Fact #6: Your brain uses summer to pre-buffer your mood for winter.
Here’s something most people don’t know: your brain doesn’t just react to sunlight in the moment; it actually stores the positive effects of summer exposure in ways that can help buffer against low mood months down the line.
Research into seasonal affective patterns shows that exposure to natural light in the summer and early fall is linked to better mental health in winter, even if you’re not consciously noticing a mood boost at the time. It’s like your brain’s building a vitamin D-powered emotional savings account, and it’ll start drawing on that balance when the days get shorter.
So yes, that walk after dinner? That random sunbeam you stand in like a houseplant? That lazy Sunday in the park? They’re not just good for the moment, they’re psychological prep work for colder, darker months.
Moral of the story: don’t underestimate how much your summer habits matter later. Your future February self might thank you for that extra hour outside.
Until next time,
Maya 🧠✨

CHRIS’ CORNER

Quiet Leadership Transcends Sports
It isn’t often a book about a sports personality that includes a lot of stories from other sports personalities can be more than about sports.
But one book that I recently finished reading is just that. It’s a book that is perfect for football (soccer) fans, sports fans in general, and businesspeople.
Quiet Leadership: Winning hearts, minds, and matches by Carlo Ancelotti with Chris Brady and Mike Forde is based on Ancelotti’s exquisite football managerial career.
However, the lessons learned from this book about how to build culture, learn about the individuals (employees) being managed, and understanding when different styles of leadership are needed, can be utilized in virtually any business setting.
Published in 2016, Quiet Leadership explores Ancelotti’s thoughts on his career as well as how he evolved as a manager after being a successful football player. It takes us through his career (up through joining Bayern Munich in 2016.
Side Note: since the book was published, Ancelotti won titles with Bayern, had successful stints with Real Madrid, and now the Italian has become the Brazil national men’s team manager/coach.
For those unfamiliar with Ancelotti, he is one of the most celebrated football managers of all time.
He is the only manager in history to win the league title in the top five European leagues (Italia, England, Spain, Germany, and France). He is the only manager to have been in six Champions League finals and the only won to win five of those titles. multiple domestic, continental and international cups.
As a player with AS Roma and AC Milan, he won three Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia trophies, one Supercoppa Italiana, two European Cups (now Champions League), one European Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup, and a third-place medal at the 1990 World Cup.
He is one of seven people to win the Champions League as both a player and a manager.
In the book, world class superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Beckham, and many others discuss their affinity for the man known as Don Carlo or Carletto.
They all fell in love with him for their own reasons as he managed each of them according to their own characters and needs at the time.
This could be because, as he notes in the book, he would go beyond the skill set and finding out more about each of the people he was managing.
He knew about their families, their passions outside of football, and what their personal goals were. As such, he always understood how to get the most out of them on the field of play.
Ancelotti discusses not playing favourites and treating everyone with respect – from the ball boy to the CEO.
He mentions learning the language of the country he was coaching in (outside of his native Italy) and being able to communicate in Spanish, French, German, and English.
Communication is a key thread throughout the book.
Each chapter there is a lesson and some amazing stories from Ancelotti’s career, which helps tie together the sports management and business management for the reader.
Though there are a multitude of leadership takeaways from Quiet Leadership and indeed I’ve begun to implement some of them myself.
Whether you’re an avid football fan like me, a sports fan in general, or a businessperson looking for leadership ideas from one of the most successful leaders on the planet, this book should be on your must-read list.
