FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

I love pizza, you love pizza, we ALL love pizza. My son likes to try different pizza spots around the city and over the last few months everyone I know has been raving about Gram's.
This unlikely location west of DuPont and Landsdowne is not where I thought I'd find the best pizza in the city. But I did.
Gram's is the BEST pie in the city. Yep, I said it.
You walk in at the side of the building. It looks like one of those hipster neighborhood coffee shops that a sister and brother put together to make a few extra bucks. But I'm convinced there is more to this story than I know about.
The guy making the pizza is likely Gram (probably Graham) but I don't know this for sure. People walk in like they know him. They don't deliver and once the dough and ingredients are done for the day, they are done.
Back to the pizza. The bottom was so perfectly crispy that it felt slightly fried (not quite as fried as the king taps pizza, which I also really like) in the most perfect way. I took what to me is the most perfect type of slice; spicy, sweet and tangy. Spicy salami, hint of honey, and pineapple with the most awesome red sauce.
The slice blew my mind. It was perfect, I enjoyed each bite. My son agrees, he swears by Superpoint on Ossington but gave Grams the N#1 ranking as well.
This place has little signs for their slices made out of cardboard and just simple white on black signs out front.
There is a mystique to this place and from what I can tell there is more to this Gram's story than I know about. I'm not sure if the guy even wants more business, he seems so casual, but I'm not convinced, he is the pizza God. I don't know if he can help it or keep this place a secret for much longer. It's the best and everyone needs to try it.
Insane!

🛡️ Privacy, Please! Why That “Helpful” AI Might Be a Little Too Helpful
Hold onto your hardware wallets — Bitcoin just moonwalked past $123,000! 🚀 The world’s most famous cryptocurrency hit an all-time high this week, with traders and techies alike watching in awe as it danced its way past the $120K mark for the first time ever.
Why the surge? Well, it turns out the U.S. is finally warming up to crypto, with Congress set to debate key bills that could give the industry the regulatory clarity it’s been craving. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has thrown his weight behind the movement, dubbing himself the “crypto president.” (We’ll let you decide how that makes you feel. 😅)
Add to that a full-blown digital asset rally, a $3.81 trillion total market cap, and even some central banks reportedly eyeing Bitcoin as a long-term reserve asset — and it’s clear we’re not just dealing with meme coin mania anymore.
Oh, and July 14 has officially been dubbed “Crypto Week” in Washington. So, if your blockchain buddy seems extra smug at the office, now you know why.
Whether you're a crypto convert or just here for the popcorn, one thing's certain: the digital gold rush is back on, and this time, it’s got legislative backing. 💼📈

REAL ESTATE SPOTLIGHT - MIAMI

90 Alton Rd, Apt 1408 ~ $825,000
I'm a Miami Beach guy. I'm not a Tampa Bay, Sarasoda, Miami, Coral Gables, Palm Beach, Naples, Fort Lauderdale or anywhere else but a Miami Beach kinda guy. Miami beach is the best. Not a day goes by when someone' doesn't call me Papi. The views and people watching along the boardwalk are the great in the world and it's just fun and lively always. I love it.
Here is a great little unit that faces the city if you like that views with a little walk to the beach, it's south of Fifth which in my opinion is the most desirable neighbourhood in the world. Take a peek.
REMINDER
BTW, at the bottom of this NL is our invite to the www.untuckedgolf.com on Sept 15th. Frankie along with George Pimentel (Canada’s N#1 photographer) are hosting their first tourney to support CamH. George is the king of galas so this little tourney is bound to have some tricks up its sleeve. Now, attached below are a few great photos of his. Check them out and enjoy 😉.

100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES
Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

#30
“Not only do I walk every morning.
But, I believe it is the best way to solve most problems.
As you can imagine I get a lot of calls regarding mental health, unfortunately I’m now the expert.
But, you can all be.
If you have a friend that is struggling. The easiest and best thing you could do is propose a walk.
“Hey, do you want to go for a 30 minute walk”.
I get this kind of call a lot. But I won’t be telling you anything that anyone else cant tell you during that walk. The only thing I will do is ask you open ended questions and perhaps guide you exactly where you already know you need to be.
Propose walks!
The benefits of walking are HUGE.
It helps you get a little exercise.
It is not face to face so, you don’t have to deal with looking straight at each other.
It is great for work as well. Instead of calls, emails and frustrations. If one 30 minute walk can’t solve your issue at work then it is probably unsolvable. Try it.
I have a plan to build an app that connects people who want to help each other out, a peer to peer app. People are paired up by age, sex, interests, a topic perhaps that they want to chat about, a mental health issue and the app connects people based on time they want to go and geographic proximity. The twist being we get some retailers and big brands to support it giving you POINTS (Aeroplan style) for steps when it recognizes you’re doing a partner walk.
The whole idea is to get people walking together and take the strain off the overloaded Mental health system.
There is a classic saying “ In America they have therapists, in Greece we have friends”, our system can’t tackle this issue alone.
Be a friend and take someone for a walk.
We have some plans for events coming up including a big gala and other initiatives regarding mental health but for now if you want to donate then I would recommend www.camh.ca”
🧠A Weekly Dose of Psychology You Didn’t Know You Needed 🧠

Hi everyone! I’m Maya — I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and Psychology (basically, I can analyze both a crime scene and your overly complicated coffee order). I’m also an incoming Master of Arts candidate in Counselling Psychology, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how the human brain works — and why it sometimes does the exact opposite of what we want it to do.
This week, I’m taking a stroll (pun intended) into the psychology of walking — inspired by a lovely piece just above mine in this very newsletter. You’ve probably heard that “walking is good for your mental health,” and sure, it is. But here’s something a little deeper.
🧠 Psych Fact #4: Going for a walk — especially one with no destination — can make your brain more emotionally flexible.
There’s research showing that walking, especially outdoors and without a fixed goal, boosts something called cognitive-emotional integration — basically your brain’s ability to think and feel at the same time without short-circuiting.
This kind of wandering movement (also called “psychogeography” in some academic circles — yes, that’s a real word) is especially helpful when you're dealing with tangled thoughts or stuck emotions. It’s not just that walking calms you down — it actually helps your brain connect the dots between what you’re feeling and how you’re thinking.
And here’s the kicker: the less structured your walk, the better the effect. You don’t need a FitBit goal or a scenic Instagram route. Just moving your body in a low-pressure way gives your mind the space it needs to process, reflect, and even untangle some emotional knots.
So next time you’re feeling mentally jammed or emotionally foggy, don’t just go for a walk — go for a wander. No playlist, no destination, no pressure. Just your feet and your thoughts taking the scenic route together.
Until next time,
Maya 🧠✨

CHRIS’ CORNER

A Little Bit of This and That
I was at a crossroads on what to write about for this space this week as I sat down in front of the laptop to do my thing.
A busy week of family, friends, recording and editing podcasts, and of course writing for the various entities will do that to a person.
So rather than go with just one item, I’ll touch on a few happenings from the week and look ahead to what’s down the road.
Women’s Euros
There was the heartbreaking extra time Women’s Euro 2025 semi-final loss by Italia to England on Tuesday, but I’m (mostly) over that and the Azzure beat all pre-tournament expectations.
It was an exciting run by the Italian team and the fact they looked well organized, skillful, and dangerous in every match bodes well for the future.
Then the next day a very game German side fell 1-0 to the world champions from Spain, also in extra time.
I didn’t get to see much of this match, but the parts I did see where compelling. Both these teams were pegged as potential tournament winners, and they lived up to the hype.
Now we’ll get to see the defending European champions from England face off against the world champs on Sunday, July 27 at noon.
Magic Venus
Venus Williams turned back the clock this week and became the second oldest women in pro tennis history to win a singles tournament match.
On Tuesday, the 45-year-old Williams defeated 23-year-old Peyton Stearns 6-3, 6-4 in their opening round match at the DC Open. With the win, Williams earned a wild card spot for the Cincinnati Open in August.
Williams next match in DC was set to be on Thursday against Poland’s Magdalena Frech.
The oldest woman to ever win a tournament match was the legendary Martina Navratilova, who was 47 years old in 2004 when she won her very last singles match.
Countdown to US Open
Speaking of pro tennis. The countdown to the US Open at Flushing Meadows is in full effect.
And is there anyone who doesn’t want to see another Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz final?
Okay, maybe some people have that nostalgic feeling for Noval Djokovic, but for pure tennis entertainment, it has to be a third straight Grand Slam final featuring the top two players in the world.
The French Open marathon won by Alcaraz after going two sets down is the stuff legends are made of. Sinner’s response at Wimbledon was masterful albeit a more straightforward victory over his main rival.
Sinner has now won two of the three Grand Slams in 2025 and been in all three finals. He won the Australian Open to kick off the year in straight sets over Alexander Zverev.
Alcaraz has been playing lights out tennis against literally everyone – minus Sinner in England – since he fell in the quarterfinals in the land down under against Djokovic.
I wrote about this rivalry in a past Chris’ Corner and it keeps on getting better. We MUST see it in New York this fall.
Toronto FC
Since their extended break for the Club World Cup to run in the United States, Toronto FC has been rather respectable in their play and results.
Though I was sad to see Federico Bernadeschi depart (he’s in Bologna now), and not as sad to see Lorenzo Insigne go (still no team), the two stars leaving have created what appears to be a unified front and team-first effort.
It must be said, Bernadeschi was never accused of not caring or putting in effort.
The Reds are now 2-2-2 since June 25 and have shown a decent fighting spirit in most matches.
Now, we can’t start dreaming of a playoff spot just yet, but a good second half that features more positive performances and results than in the first half of the season isn’t too far fetched.
They next play at Charlotte on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. with their next home match coming August 16 at 7:30 p.m.
That’s it this week for me! Ciao for Now!
