Call me Gaby.
Every woman I know is obsessed with this spot. While we were in Miami this week, I asked my wife and sister-in-law where we should go for dinner — without hesitation, they both said, “Call Me Gaby.”
Miami is quiet and it's kinda nice. I don't often spend time here this time of year, but I've really enjoyed it. Getting a reservation is not a hassle and the golf courses are almost empty. I think we got lucky with the weather as people have said it can be much hotter, so hey, I'm lucky, what can I say?
Back to the food. We order two pizzas, one with mortadella and the other more plainish. I've got the boys here for some golf (we hit TopGolf, PopStroke, and Miami Beach GC- great week :)). We shared the meatballs, the Bolognese, and a salad of some kind.
The food is dynamite here, but you come to eat on the patio, with little trees around and light music playing as if you're sitting in Tuscany. With the odd Harley and Lamborghini driving by;)
Call me Gaby is a win, no doubt about it.
OK ok ok ok!
Let's go to North Beach now. Around 73rd on the beach - Sushi Bichi is a 10 out of 10.
The prices are normal, like normal for Miami and the food is perfect. I didn't have an haute sushi dish that I didn't love.
I am a HUGE lover of crispy calamari and when I say these are the best I've ever had, I won't be lying. It comes lightly salted with grilled green onions, some cilantro from what I remember, some jalapeños on top, and ponzu sauce (which is my fave).
They have all your favourite rolls and a bunch of house specials like a great yellowtail roll with a funky name.
Great wine list and once the hoarding is down there will be a great view as well. It's been open for a few years now and my friend Eileen from Myth in Toronto has been going often. It's no surprise, this place is a real gem.
I look forward to going back for those calamari soon.

Discover Weekly Gets a Makeover!
Feeling old? So is Spotify’s Discover Weekly — the beloved playlist that’s been surprising us with musical gems every Monday for the past ten years (yes, ten). But don’t worry — it’s aging like fine vinyl.
To celebrate its decade of delivering bops, bangers, and the occasional “why is this in my playlist?” moment, Spotify is giving Discover Weekly a bit of a glow-up. Now, Premium users can fine-tune their recommendations by selecting genre filters. Want to steer your algorithm from classic rock to that budding K-pop obsession? Go ahead. The algorithm won’t judge.
Over 100 billion tracks have been streamed through Discover Weekly, and nearly 80% of those listens are from emerging artists. That’s right — your Monday playlist has quietly been helping launch music careers while you sip your morning coffee.
To try out the new features, just head to the “Made for You” hub in the Spotify app, click into your Discover Weekly, and — assuming you’re all updated — you’ll see those shiny new genre controls.
Pair this with other recent updates (like snoozing overplayed songs for 30 days or previewing Spotify’s upcoming suggestions), and it looks like Spotify’s algorithm is learning to share the aux cord.
So here’s to Discover Weekly 2.0 — older, wiser, and just a little more in tune with your guilty pleasures.

BTW, at the bottom of this NL is our invite to the www.untuckedgolf.com on Sept 15th. Frankie along with George Pimentel (Canada’s N#1 photographer) are hosting their first tourney to support CamH. George is the king of galas so this little tourney is bound to have some tricks up its sleeve. Now, attached here are a few links to behind the scenes photos of his last few galas in Toronto. Check them out and enjoy 😉.

100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES
Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

#27
“You have a few choices every time something happens in your life.
If you make it a daily habit to look at things negatively then that’s how you will see them, if you make it a daily habit to see things positively then that’s how you will see them.
Happiness and attitude take training.
There is a singular spot somewhere in your brain that controls things, I am sure this spot is the one that makes you happy and this same spot makes you sad, my advice is to adjust it wisely.
The choice is yours, happiness is a choice, it is also contagious BTW, you can catch it ;).”
🧠A Weekly Dose of Psychology You Didn’t Know You Needed 🧠

Hi everyone! I’m Maya — I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and Psychology (basically, I can analyze both a crime scene and your overly complicated coffee order). I’m also an incoming Master of Arts candidate in Counselling Psychology, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how the human brain works — and why it sometimes does the exact opposite of what we want it to do.
Each week, I’ll be sharing one weird, wonderful, and slightly unexpected psychology fact — not the usual “Did you know stress is bad?” (you do) — but the kind of brainy tidbits that make you pause, chuckle, and maybe even send the link to a coworker.
Let’s kick things off with this week’s fact:
Psych Fact #1: Your brain prefers predictable disappointment over uncertain success.
Yes, really. It’s called the certainty effect, and it helps explain why we sometimes stick with routines that don’t excite us, rewatch the same shows, or order the same lunch every day.
The brain loves predictability. It’s like that one person in every group project who insists on using the same font and layout every time. Reliable? Yes. A little rigid? Also yes.
Even when something better might be out there, uncertainty makes the brain twitchy. So we cling to what’s familiar — not because it’s the best option, but because it feels the safest.
So, if you've ever stuck with the status quo just because it felt easier, it’s not laziness — it's neuroscience.
Come back next week for another psych fact that’s fun, bite-sized, and won’t make you question your entire existence (just… parts of it).
Until next time,
Maya 🧠✨
OTHER POSH THINGS
My Guerlain Obsession
Empress Eugénie to modern Parisiennes (aka moi!), Guerlain has been the ultimate symbol of French elegance and refinement.
I first discovered Guerlain’s Insolence almost 20 years ago, shortly after moving to Paris in 2006. I tried Insolence, and it was love at first spritz — and quickly became my signature scent. (fyi, Insolence Eau de Parfum, is known as "the fragrance of uncompromising love"
What makes Guerlain so special isn’t just the perfumes (though they are incredible and every bottle feels like an heirloom), but the way the brand embodies the art of living à la française (try their amazing terracotta bronzer too!)
Enjoying a slow walk yesterday along the Champs-Élysées on a very hot July morning, I found myself stepping inside their flagship boutique and heading straight towards "my usual", the Les Légendaires collection. Inspired by some of the greatest love stories in history, each fragrance leaves an unforgettable aura of emotion in its wake. Without hesitation, I picked up a fresh bottle of Insolance (it felt like slipping into a perfectly tailored trench coat or sipping champagne on a quiet Parisian balcony) and asked for my name to be engraved on the bottle...
A note about the legendary bottle: Designed by Raymond Guerlain in 1912, its iconic “inverted heart” bottle is underscored with graceful scrolls typical of Art Nouveau. Its avant-garde stopper, in the form of a hollowed heart, evokes the delicate romanticism of this perfumery masterpiece and represents a real technical feat at the time.
Let yourself get lost in the scents, the history, the craftsmanship and maybe fall in love....

CHRIS’ CORNER

MLSE Shaking Things Up
Hey Keith Pelley, thanks for (trying to) ruin Canada Day for us . . . hahaha, just kidding.
We still had a great day on Lake Rosseau paddling and swimming and tanning.
Still, attempting a news dump of the mutual contract terminations of Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernadeschi on our nation’s birthday isn’t very nice.
On one hand, most Toronto FC fans would agree that the Insigne part of the experiment was less than ideal, to put it very mildly, and that his departure is a good thing for all involved.
However, on the other hand, Bernadeschi had truly become a fan favourite in the city.
And as any eye test or data measures will tell you, Bernadeschi was a good to great performer for the Reds over his three-year tenure. He provided a lot of excitement on the pitch and had a wonderful attitude off of it.
While this is a good decision long-term for Toronto FC as the two players salaries were prohibitive in being able to bring in more strong talent, I would have loved to see Bernadeschi finish this season as Red, and maybe even announce his leaving before a last game so we could cheer him off.
That would have been deserving of his efforts for the club and there aren’t many who will disagree on that point.
On that note, Grazie Mille! Buon Fortuna!
Marner Gone
The Toronto FC announcements came on the back of the Toronto Maple Leafs sending Mitch Marner to the Las Vegas Knights in a substantial sign-and-trade deal.
Marner signed an eight-year, $96 million contract with Toronto the day before becoming a free agent and then was traded on July 1 to the Knights in exchanged for veteran forward Derek Roy.
Roy will make significantly less than what Marner was set to make and that will make room for new signings to increase the team’s depth.
Marner was a huge performer for the Maple Leafs for years and his production will be missed. However, after only advancing from the first-round in the playoffs once over the past xxx years, something had to give and his was the most tradeable option.
Good luck Mitch, but only against everyone except Toronto.
Masai gone
This was a shocker to many of us Raptors fans.
When the Raptors announced they were parting ways with the man who brought Toronto its first (and so far, only) NBA title, my first reaction was “wow.”
I never saw that one coming. I always felt like Masai Ujiri would be a Raptor for life.
The man helped mold the best years of the Raptors franchise, working his way up through the front office as an assistant general manager, general manager, and eventually president of the club.
He had the cojones to trade away fan favourite DeMar DeRozan to bring in Kawhi Leonard for one year to win the 2019 title.
Masai helped draft and nurture undervalued talent and turn them into NBA stars. He helped bring social issues to the forefront of the public, he helped take basketball in Canada to new heights, as well as building a huge foundation in Africa through the Giants of Africa initiative.
And many will even go so far as to say he was the best general manager in Toronto for any team in any sport . . . ever. That will require more in depth investigation, but there is no arguing he’s in the running.
Now his majestic mind, incredible work ethic, and passion for basketball will end up somewhere else.
Toronto as a city will be worse off for it. The Raptors as a club will be worse off for it.
Thank you Masai for all you did and who you are.
That’s it for me! Ciao for Now!
