FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

A lot of people ask me what is truly my favourite place to eat... who is kidding who? It's always going to be my mom’s place.

Here is last weeks Father's Day menu:

Every polish house starts with a soup on Sunday but most often is rosol (good old fashioned Chicken Soup).

We had an appetizers of lamb skewers mixed with smoked bacon (that my dad smoked) - yum! Kinda spiducci style.

The remaining things on the table that weekend were beef stewed with some sweet onions and garlic, mashed potatoes, a coleslaw-ish salad with her dressing and a store bought tiramisu for dessert which was very good BTW.

Oh! I forgot the eggplant dish that she has been trying to perfect for years, always with a new variation and always a bit different. 🤷‍♀️

Of course mom always serves us a nice tea in the end, it often has a slice of apple and a Polish (stevia) sweetener.

My Dad pours shots throughout, vodka of course and chilled. #luxusova

I wouldn't say last week meal was typically Polish but my mom loves to try new things she learns on Insta or TikTok, I love that about her.

I hope you love your mom's cooking like I do mine.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I get asked about the best Polish restaurants in Toronto a lot. Here are my Top 3

TECH SPOTLIGHT

🚗🍿 Park, Play, and... Pause? iOS 26 Adds Video Streaming to CarPlay (With One Little Catch)

Big news for road trippers, soccer superfans, and anyone who’s ever thought, “This parking lot would be way better with Netflix.”

With iOS 26, Apple is adding video streaming to CarPlay—yes, you read that right. You’ll soon be able to AirPlay your favorite videos from your iPhone directly onto your car’s infotainment screen.

But before you start planning your next drive-in movie night: the feature only works when your car is parked. The moment your car moves, playback pauses. So unless you're into cliffhangers, keep it in park.

Apple’s clearly not trying to turn your morning commute into a Marvel marathon—but it is a nice win for electric vehicle owners looking to pass the time while charging, or for fans catching the final moments of a tied game before getting back on the road.

Of course, developers have to hop through a few hoops (read: Apple’s MFi program) to integrate this, so expect a slow roll-out.

Other CarPlay goodies coming in iOS 26? Think pinned messages, tappable reactions (aka Tapbacks), home screen widgets, and real-time updates like flight status.

🚘 TL;DR: iOS 26 is turning your parked car into a mini living room. Just don’t forget you’re still in a parking lot.

Stay tuned—public beta hits next month, and the full release rolls out with iPhone 17 this fall.

REAL ESTATE SPOTLIGHT

37 Farnham Avenue ~ $4,250,000

I have always love Farnham and Woodlawn as streets. Something about them makes me feel like I'm in outskirts of London, mixed with New York, yet quiet enough to be in the trees of Muskoka, and close enough to walk to Terroni.

Call us for a viewing - Nigel Frankie etc.

REMINDER

BTW, at the bottom of this NL is our invite to the www.untuckedgolf.com on Sept 15th. Frankie along with George Pimentel (Canada’s N#1 photographer) are hosting their first tourney to support CamH. George is the king of galas so this little tourney is bound to have some tricks up its sleeve. Now, attached here are a few links to behind the scenes photos of his last few galas in Toronto. Check them out and enjoy 😉.

WORD OF THE WEEK

Garrulous

What It Means

Someone described as garrulous is very talkative. When garrulous is used to describe a piece of language (such as a speech), it means “containing many and often too many words; wordy.”

FRANKIE’S SONG OF THE WEEK

I'm a huge sucker for John Bon.

This is 13 years ago at the Savoy Hotel in London. He was such a gentleman.

100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES

Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

#25

How do we teach our kids to be confident?

Teach them to be nice.

Teach them that they are not any more important than others.

Teach them that everyone in the room matters.

Confidence is not about feeling better than anyone, it is about making everyone feel good about themselves.

Show them how you speak to people.

Show them how you treat people.

Let’s teach our kids to bring the most vulnerable kid home with them for a play date.

That is how we teach them confidence.

Voila!

25/100 (quarter of the way there-not so hard;)) 1% better each day.

CHRIS’ CORNER

Age is Just a Number

Reading the headline, you may think this is a piece about relationships featuring sugar daddies and mommies.

While that is an interesting topic to broach, and I may one day, this piece is about people continuing to be active and even be highly competitive as they pass middle age.

And no, I’m not referring to only games like pickleball, though that seems to be growing in popularity at a fast rate.

I personally play on an Over 45 men’s soccer team that has players aged 45 to 65 on it and competes in the Huronia District against teams from Barrie, Innisfil, Nottawasaga, and Orillia.

Side note, and a minor brag: we’re now 3-0 this season after a 3-2 win over Innisfil on Wednesday where I had an assist on the winning goal.

The level of competitiveness in terms of intensity can be relatively high for a bunch of old guys kicking a ball around a field. I took a very hard knock to the back from a huge dude when attempting to head the ball that I still felt the next day.

There are many team sports that have leagues like this, including hockey, basketball, and even baseball (though it’s not as physical as the other sports mentioned).

One of the most interesting things about the desire to keep competing as we age is the fact there are Olympic-style summer and winter games held in Ontario for the 55-plus crowd.

The Ontario 55-plus Summer Games are being held in Sudbury from August 5 to 7 this year. Events include 5-pin bowling, bid euchre, billiards, bocce, carpet bowling, cribbage, cycling, darts, euchre, floor shuffleboard, golf, pickleball, prediction walking, slo-pitch. swimming, and tennis.

The Games are hosted every two years in host cities or towns throughout the province.

The next Ontario 55-plus Winter Games will be held from February 3-5, 2026. Outdoor events are alpine skiing, curling, hockey, Nordic skiing, and prediction skating. Indoor events are duplicate bridge, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, and 10-pin bowling.

To compete at the provincial level, teams and individuals go through qualifiers at their local district. There are 37 districts in Ontario.

I almost forgot to mention, there is also an opportunity to qualify for the Canada 55-plus Games through the provincial events.

To learn more about the Ontario 55-plus Games, and how to get involved in your home district, check out: https://osga55plus.ca/

So, you see, if you’re like me and like to keep being active as well as competitive, there are plenty of opportunities to feed the spirit. It’s a matter of what you prefer to do.
