SFD SATURDAY
MORNING WEEKLY 58

I was invited to a networking event at Petty Cash. It's a wild horse style bar with some of the best pizza in town. As a matter of fact the bartenders were choreographing their "on the bar dance" just as we walked in. BUT, today's review is not about Petty Cash it's about Bar Prima.

FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

Bar Prima

I was invited to a networking event at Petty Cash. It's a wild horse style bar with some of the best pizza in town. As a matter of fact the bartenders were choreographing their "on the bar dance" just as we walked in.  BUT, today's review is not about Petty Cash it's about Bar Prima.

My friend Marco invited CHEF Harding to the party to sample his olive oil and tech. I was starstruck. I mean, I've heard about his restaurants but to meet the MAN, not me!

We were told we had to have dinner there and a reso was made for us that night. We grabbed a few clients and friends and headed there for dinner. Wow!

Bar Prima is situated at the coolest part of Queen right now and let me say, this place is cool cool cool.

Dinner started with a spagliato- yep and mistaken Negroni, no gin but persecco instead. YUMMY!

The food comes.

#1 Zepoola Cacio Pepe - with cheese. Almost like a mini French crueler but not sweet, it's savoury with cheese on top.

#2 Toast with tomato sauce -  👍

#3 the scallop Rockefeller wow! Best scallop I've ever had. Sorry anywhere by the ocean. This one takes the cake.

#4 We had a ravioli that was so perfect and then the wow! #5 A lobster pasta that in my opinion is the best in the city.

Can't remember the desert, I hope I didn't have any, I'm trying to lose weight but if the desert is anything like the food, it's got to be exceptional.

Mr Harding, I'm not sure if you're reading this, well, I did put you on my newsletter so I hope so but thank you for one of the BEST dining experiences in the city of Toronto, if not the world.

Oh ya, I did a huge STO lat to a birthday boy and I'm sure the restaurant loved that 🤦‍♀️. Sorry chef!

TECH SPOTLIGHT

Meet Sonny, the AI Chatbot Lending an Ear in Schools

School can be tough—homework, friendships, figuring out what’s for lunch. But what if you just need someone to talk to? That’s where Sonny, the “wellbeing companion” from Sonar Mental Health, comes in.

Think of Sonny as a friendly chatbot with a human safety net. When students send in their thoughts or worries, Sonny suggests a response, but trained professionals (with backgrounds in psychology and crisis support) ensure every message is helpful and thoughtful. So, it’s AI with a human touch—kind of like having an automated pen pal who actually cares.

With school counselors in short supply (fun fact: 17% of high schools don’t have one at all!), Sonny is stepping up to bridge the gap. While it’s not a therapist, it can offer support, guidance, and even help connect students to real-life professionals when needed.

Sonar launched its first school partnership in January 2024, and Sonny is now chatting with over 4,500 students across nine districts. The goal? Making sure no student feels like they have to navigate their struggles alone—because everyone deserves someone (or somebot?) to talk to.

Would you trust an AI chatbot with your deep thoughts? Or would you hit it with the classic "I'm fine" and keep scrolling? Let us know!

WORD OF THE WEEK

Quip

What It Means

Quip can refer to a clever, usually taunting remark, or to a witty or funny observation or response usually made on the spur of the moment.

FRANKIE’S SONG OF THE WEEK

I love when I'm on a drive and this one comes on. How about you?

TENNIS TIP OF THE WEEK

100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES

Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

#9

Life is not just onions, tomatoes, tzatziki, a warm pita and pork souvlaki but that is the perfect wrap.

When you are depressed you cannot seem to find joy in anything and people around you just cannot understand why.

If you can push yourself to see the beauty in little things, you won’t have time to be down.

Life’s big events are a select few. Learn to get excited with the little things like that lunch you’re going to have, the conversation you initiate, the singing in the shower, the new friendships you make, the walk, the new show, the new recipe you want to try, that morning tea in your favourite mug, the flowers on your street, your little charitable daily deed, the next chapter of your book, a morning walk, your 1000th kiss, a new pair of socks.

Life is about the little things.

Oh yeah, the perfect sandwich is a Veal on a bun smothered with red peppers, hot peppers, mushrooms, cheese and some tangy sugo sauce.

“wake up and smell the roses”.”
