SFD SATURDAY MORNING WEEKLY 56
For many years my wife and I lived near king and Portland during the time when that area was just becoming really really cool, our timing couldn't have been better, the crowds on the weekends weren't as crazy as they are now and the restaurant scene was just picking up. We had a great condo there and hosted some pretty epic parties.

Gusto 101
For many years my wife and I lived near king and Portland during the time when that area was just becoming really really cool, our timing couldn't have been better, the crowds on the weekends weren't as crazy as they are now and the restaurant scene was just picking up. We had a great condo there and hosted some pretty epic parties. There is a great little restaurant that is still there that became a twice a week spot for me and my family.
GUSTO 101! I think that means taste in Italian and it certainly has that.
After just recently being in Argentina I can feel some Argentinian flare at Gusto, most certainly a wood burning oven which is a staple in Argentina and Uruguay.
From what I remember, I've been told the menu has changed very little, I would always order the Kale salad, the meatballs, the arancini? (Rice balls), the pulpito (grilled octopus) and of course the pizza was dynamite, my preference is always something pepperoni/sausagy with a little bit of heat and a small touch of sweet like honey or dare I say it, pineapple 👀.
If you're looking for a fun, young vibe with prices similar to Terroni, I would head there, it's perfect for a little fun sunny brunch date as well.

Is AI Making Us Lazy Thinkers?
AI can write emails, summarize reports, and even suggest the perfect emoji for your work messages (🤖💡). But is all this convenience coming at a cost? A recent study from Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon suggests that relying too much on generative AI might be giving our critical thinking skills a bit of a workout… in reverse.
The research found that when workers use AI, their brains shift from thinking to checking—essentially proofreading rather than problem-solving. And if we’re only stepping in when AI stumbles, we might not be flexing our mental muscles enough to handle complex decisions on our own.
Some workers in the study played it safe—one double-checked an AI-generated performance review to avoid getting suspended (yikes), while another reworded AI-crafted emails to avoid an awkward culture clash with his boss. Others fact-checked AI’s responses using YouTube and Wikipedia, which, let’s be honest, kind of defeats the whole point of using AI in the first place.
The takeaway? AI is a great tool, but it’s not a substitute for good old-fashioned thinking. So next time ChatGPT hands you an answer, give it a second look—your brain will thank you! 🧠💪
REAL ESTATE SPOTLIGHT

1510 Queen Street W ~ $1,425,000
With main arteries in Toronto being allowed to go a little or a LOT taller who have to keep the store and apartment idea as a good investment vehicle. While they are not always the easiest to get financing on, the upside really comes when developers come in and want to build condos etc. I know I know, condos aren't being sold but Toronto isn't going anywhere. It's still the best city in the world, the most multicultural, and still a wonderful place to do business, raise a family, and have some great amenities at your disposal.
I like this one here. The tenancy upstairs is hmmm but this little one has potential for sure.
FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE TV SHOWS
Someone recently asked me what shows I've liked over the years and what movies. The truth is I don't watch much TV, series or movies but I have so if you want to know the things I have really loved over the years, here goes. My absolute fave was Seinfeld, I really loved modern family, I liked the one with the sports writer, his cute wife and his tall brother, I loved Sopranos, Sex in the City, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm (of course), I loved Life is Beautiful, Tom hanks in the movie with Bubba Gump, 3 Amigos, Old School, Dumb and Dumber, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Wedding Crashers, and Wayne's world. There were a few great Spanish movies like Tu Mama Tambien (I think that's how you spell it) that my parents had me watch but I was never a huge fan of American style dramas. Oh! And there was this amazing series that I discovered on a flight 20 years ago, it was called Gavin and Stacey, it only had 3 or 4 seasons but it was English (from the UK) and it was incredible and it had the chubby guy who drives celebs in the Range Rover in it. I love him.
We would love more interesting contributors to our newsletter. Especially in area like movies and shows. We like people who like to express themselves and give good feedback on things they know or understand. Good writers would be great as well;) I know mine needs a lot of work, but I enjoy it, so, I guess all keep doing it. The truth is, this is not yelp, so we care more for positive articles or reviews. We believe if something isn't that great, you don't have to say it, it speaks for itself.
Thank you.

“It’s like a sauna in here.
Marine biologist, yada yada, soup nazi, the merv griffin show, summer of George, the contest, the Hamptons, festivus, I could go on for days.
I’d like to ask Jennifer Aniston if she thought her show was even funny, I suspect not 👀.”

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“At some point in your life, you have to believe that maybe your ideas aren't so stupid, you have to believe that your thoughts have meaning, and that your actions can have an impact on your life and the life of others. Once you believe you can make change, you have power to do so, but in some cases CHANGE may not be necessary. That is where the real development comes from.”
