FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

Mr. Chow Miami

Old faithful!

Last Friday I was playing golf with a client in Miami and they were dying for some Chinese food. I said, let's try Mr. Chow. He said he had never been, I mean, was he ever in for a treat. Now, I've been here many many times and I even have a funny photo of myself outside the location in Beverly Hills with my buddy George (Its his birthday today) and our shirts off, but that's another story altogether.

This one is about an old school classic.

You walk into Mr. Chow and everyone is like "welcome back sir !". Hey, I know I'm popular ;) but there is no way they remembered me, although 🤔 the groups I've been with have been loud, hmmm. Anyways, they do a great job of making you feel super welcomed. Then bam, jam, and thank you mam this place tees you up fast. They get the drinks and menu to you fast, give you time to order, and no time is wasted before things are on the table.

Did I mention, 80s 💿 is always playing? I mean, their music in the background is always amazing and the FOOOOOOD - OMG.

Always go with the chicken satays, the duck is surreal both fried and pekinged, the noodles are the reason you come, they are fresh, they are tasty, and they are smothered in great sauces. I am a HUGE fan of their squid ink pasta and I NEVER leave there without asking for hot sauce, over and over and over.

Mr. Chow, you never disappoint me, except when I get the bill 🤦‍♀️.

Hopefully, I get the sale ;).

The Return of OG Facebook? Zuckerberg Says Stay Tuned

Remember the good old days of Facebook? Poking friends, writing cryptic song lyrics as statuses, and carefully curating the perfect profile song (wait… wrong platform)? Well, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg just dropped a major hint that Facebook might be getting a nostalgic glow-up in 2025.

During Meta’s latest earnings call, Zuckerberg teased a “return to OG Facebook,” though he kept the details under wraps. The goal? To make Facebook culturally relevant again—especially for younger users who’ve swapped scrolling for TikToking.

While some changes could impact Meta’s bottom line in the short term, Zuckerberg seems confident that bringing back classic Facebook vibes will be worth it. “I think some of this will kind of get back to how Facebook was originally used back in the day,” he hinted.

But will Gen Z bite? Stats show they’re way more into TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat than Facebook. In fact, a Pew Research survey found that only 33% of U.S. teens use Facebook today, down from 71% a decade ago. Ouch.

Meta has tried to win over younger audiences before, with mixed results. Remember Facebook Campus? No? Exactly. But the company isn’t giving up just yet, and 2025 could be the year it finally figures out how to make Facebook cool again.

Will the "OG" revival work? Or will Gen Z leave Zuckerberg on read? Only time will tell.

100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES

Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

Small gestures don’t go unnoticed.

I was raised by two people who came to Canada with me and the shirts on their backs but from day one they were doing stuff for others.

Whether it was a meal at our place, an invite to a party, helping someone find a job, a little joke to ease the mood, helping someone paint, picking up hitchhikers, my folks are always doing little things for others and they love it. It makes them feel great.

The truth is when someone is going through a mental health issue, it is those little gestures that go a long way.

Making someone feel human, liked or just not feel so alone could make a huge difference and you could be that difference each day.

A smile, a cup of coffee, a phone call, help paying rent, a walk, help finding a job, a ride somewhere, inviting someone out for an unexpected bite, connecting two friends who may have never met, dropping off a thank you note, knocking on someone’s door just to say hello, a thumbs up when someone was embarrassed, a smile, a nudge forward, guiding someone in the right direction, there are so many ways.

Even if you think it may not be working, it likely is and have the strength to remember that just because someone forgot to say thank you for that good deed you did doesn’t mean that person didn’t notice or appreciate it.

Many people with mental health issues will likely never be able to properly express themselves and in many/most cases you may never know that someone has an issue.

Most people are way too embarrassed to talk about their fear of public speaking, negative thoughts about the world or their obsessive compulsive behaviours that limit their enjoyment of life.

I know some people who are so afraid to seem vulnerable that they will go over and above to avoid situations so they never feel small. Helping someone get over a fear could be the greatest thing you do for a person. Everyone deserves to have a great life.

In many cases your little daily gesture could be the one that saves someone’s life and brightens someone’s day.

So, what will your little gesture be today?”

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“At some point in your life, you have to believe that maybe your ideas aren't so stupid, you have to believe that your thoughts have meaning, and that your actions can have an impact on your life and the life of others. Once you believe you can make change, you have power to do so, but in some cases CHANGE may not be necessary. That is where the real development comes from.”
