FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

I never said I was cool. You can trust me on this. But I used to hang around with a couple tough Brooklyn boys, who were regulars at Dan Tana’s. One of (if not) the best restaurant in West Hollywood.

I’d show up, green as a pickle because I didn’t know anybody except my friends who were going there for 60 plus years. The Brooklyn boys are the best FYI. They have passed on, but they also passed along amazing memories and amazing food; and even better times.

I remember my buddy, Sid, saying just cut through the kitchen and hit our booth. We’ll see you soon. I honestly felt like I was in the movie, “Goodfellas” as I strolled through the kitchen to see Sid and our buddy, Asher! 

So, enough about that. To the menu!!

Start with the Minestrone soup. You can’t go wrong with that! Also, pair it with a nice Caprese salad. 

For a main, please try the Eggplant Parmigiano. You might be too stuffed for dessert, but just jam it in; because it’s worth it! You’re only fat once, right?

So, save room for the Cheesecake Deanne. It comes in Lemon or Chocolate. And it’s worth the wait! Hey. If you’re going to pretend to be Italian, at least enjoy the calories! And while you’re there, maybe Mark Wahlberg will sit beside you.

Just maybe. Either way…it’s an amazing time and amazing food!

TECH SPOTLIGHT

Meta, the company behind Facebook, is taking a bold leap into the world of AI-generated video with its brand-new tool, Movie Gen! Announced on October 4th, Movie Gen creates realistic video and audio clips based on simple user prompts. It can do everything from showing animals swimming and surfing to using real photos of people in action—like painting or even running with pom-poms (yes, you read that right!).

Movie Gen can also add background music and sound effects to match the vibe of the videos, or even edit existing footage with fun and quirky tweaks (like turning a dry parking lot into a splashing puddle for a skateboarder). The clips can be up to 16 seconds long, while the audio stretches out to 45 seconds, making it perfect for short-form content.

While Meta hasn’t yet released Movie Gen for everyone to use, the company is collaborating with the entertainment industry to explore its potential. So, while we may not be making our own AI-generated masterpieces just yet, the future of video content creation is looking pretty exciting!

Stay tuned—Movie Gen could be integrated into Meta’s products next year!

Football talk now, ladies and gentlemen!

Who gets paid more than the QB of the Dallas Cowboys? Mr. Prescott…Nobody!

You’re facing TJ Watt…one of the best to come at you, but you still throw up flutter balls?

Look, I’m not paid to look good…I just do it! But if you pay me $240, 000, 000 for four years, I better play ball!

Yes, there’s a lot of zero’s at the end of that statement, but I don’t bring it home to my kid.

Own up. You can cry your tears on your pillow of money, but some of us have to cry on a fake satin pillow. Even his receiver is not happy with Prescott. Nobody yells at their quarter-back.

But sometimes you need to do so.

How many picks can you give? But at the end of the day, I guess the Cowboys still emerge as the victors. And the Steelers still go home to shovel the gravel. But, from this honest boy, I think the Steelers outshone the Cowboys, and the boys need to go home and get to digging. Real work is hard work, and Prescott is not what I think he should be. Certainly, not for that money that he digs up. Here’s to hoping, but wishful thinking is wise thinking.

America’s team. I think not. You better really realize that the state, the country and everybody in the U.S. of A, doesn’t respect or think you deserve what you want to command. Command what you deserve, and you deserve none. Just my opinion. But I’m not alone.

TV SHOW REVIEW

Look, I don’t like streaming services or new shows. There are too many, but that being said, this one is different. You can find it on HBO, and Crave, and maybe other platforms, but wherever you find it, please watch it.

Colin Farrell is pretty much unrecognizable as the Penguin, A.K.A. Oz Cobb. He is dressed in a fat suit, and his Irish accent has become a Brooklyn/Jersey turn, and he rocks this so well. Don’t think of the penguin as Danny Devito. This is a new penguin. Yes, he has a limp, but he’s a more refined one. More passionate, and more focused on the loves in his life.

One of them being a young buck, who he reluctantly takes under his wing, because has to. No spoilers again because I can’t stand spoilers. This young kid, played amazingly by Rhenzy Feliz, looks at “Oz” as a guide, but he’s also intimidated by this man who chooses to save him. Beyond that, the penguin loves his mother, which is apparent quite rapidly.

It’s a Mafia story, but without the violence. Sure, there are some scenes that I would say not to show the children, but this is not a show for the faint-of-heart. This is a series where you feel for the penguin. But you also realize, the penguin has his own agenda. Love is love, but life is also survival.

One of the best actors is Cristin Millioti, who plays Sofia Falcone, a woman who has to realize what happened to her brother who passed away during a mob hit. Who did it? Who can she trust? She also had a troubled past going through mental health issues, so can she even trust herself? This show will keep you guessing, and wondering, but always trying to figure out who is the good person and who’s the bad one. It’s only the third episode, so stay tuned and stay glued.

Farrell deserves and Emmy, and so do all the supporting characters. The acting is brilliant. The cinematography is beyond belief, and the story makes you stick at all times. A little violence paves the way for better love.

Watch it. You won’t regret it. Playing now on Crave, HBO, and everywhere else.
