Palm Beach

It’s another world.

I love driving. I love winding roads, and I especially love it when the water is right beside me. Give me the mountain roads in Colorado, the drive up to Whistler, the hills around St. Tropez, or the roads leading into Monaco, and I’m happy.

Driving the Côte d’Azur is hard to beat. The California coast is spectacular, and even the Florida coastline has something special about it.

I have a friend who lives in Palm Beach, about an hour and fifteen minutes from Miami… if there’s no traffic, which is rarely the case. But if you know me, you know I don’t mind adding another 30 or 40 minutes just to enjoy the drive up and the scenery along the coast. To me, that’s part of the experience.

Last week I met up with my buddy to celebrate the Fourth of July, and we headed to one of his favourite restaurants, and one of mine. Buccan. We couldn’t get a reservation, but somehow he always finds a way to make it happen.

We started with cocktails. Truthfully, I’m usually the guy who skips straight to the wine, but I’m glad I didn’t this time. I had the best cocktail I’ve ever tasted, it was a twist on a Negroni that I’d never had before. It was a little sweeter, a little less bitter, and absolutely perfect.

We ordered four appetizers and a pasta, and every single dish was outstanding. The food at Buccan is so uniquely… Buccan. I’ve been there 15 years ago, 10 years ago, five years ago, and now again, and somehow the food and service are just as incredible as I remember.

To finish, we shared the peanut butter dessert, which was fantastic.

The night didn’t end there. We stopped by The Breakers for a couple of cocktails, had another drink at the lobby bar in The Brazilian Court, and somehow ended up at Mary Lou’s nightclub. It turned into one of those nights.

But the real highlight? The food.

Here are the must-orders:

• Short Rib Empanadas 🤦‍♂️

• Hot Dog Panini — the wiener winner 🌭

• Spicy Pork Taco — BAM!

• Crispy Duck Leg — bonjour. 🇫🇷

• Squid Ink Orecchiette — and yes… it might even be better than Joso’s, not quite. 

Just go.

Make the reservation. Order the food. Go home. Then call your family and tell them about it.

Buccan absolutely should have made my Top 20 restaurant list. I somehow left it off.

Meta has unveiled a new lineup of AI-powered smart glasses in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, including a special edition inspired by—and voiced by—Kylie Jenner. Prices start at $299, while the Kylie Edition begins at $399.

Beyond making a fashion statement, the glasses pack a surprising amount of technology. Powered by Meta AI, users can ask questions about their surroundings, get directions, translate conversations in up to 20 languages, play music, identify landmarks, draft messages, and even scan QR codes—all without reaching for their phone.

They also function as a hands-free camera, capturing 12MP photos and 3K video, while built-in open-ear speakers let users take calls, listen to podcasts, or enjoy music without blocking out the world around them. With over eight hours of battery life and a charging case that extends usage to roughly 40 hours, they're designed to stay on throughout the day.

The collection includes three frame styles and dozens of colour and lens combinations, including prescription lens compatibility, making the glasses feel more like everyday eyewear than a futuristic gadget.

While smart glasses have been around for a few years, each new generation is inching closer to becoming genuinely useful rather than simply novel. Whether they'll replace your smartphone anytime soon is another question—but they're certainly making wearable AI look a lot more fashionable. 👓🤖✨

People have been asking me what is that? 

Well, here is the long and short of it. 

It's us, going back to our inception Busys.ca was/is the little copier company that chugged along, starting over 20 years ago with one printer sold, no truck to deliver it, and no technician to service it… But, we've grown up and that's where JP and the name INTEGR8 came along.

 JP (our President) insisted we have a .com, I agree he was not wrong. But how do we pick a name? He went with integr8mps.com with an 8 reflecting what the company now does, integrating office systems, selling laptops, IT services (like Microsoft licenses, Google products, Zoom conferencing), phone systems and even security cameras and trailers now, all Ai ready of course. Printers are still the bread and butter I would say, and that's what developed the large North American customer base, but our services go hand in hand with printers as our technicians are asked for IT questions and services all the time so the evolution was inevitable. 

Integr8mps.com seemed a bit long and everyone knows I love to advertise so we shortened it to i8mps.com and that's the short of it ;)

Messi Gets the Same Favourable Calls as Jordan and Gretzky

Every generation has its sporting icons. Every generation also has fans who become convinced that referees, officials, leagues, or governing bodies are somehow conspiring to help those icons win. Right now, Lionel Messi is often at the center of that debate whenever Argentina benefits from a close call on the pitch.

But let's separate emotion from reality.

The idea that FIFA is actively “fixing” matches for Messi or Argentina simply doesn't hold up. What does hold up is something much more believable: human nature.

Throughout sports history, the greatest players have often received the benefit of the doubt from officials. Not because of a secret agenda, but because they're human beings making split-second decisions under pressure.

Michael Jordan experienced it in the NBA. Opponents and fans regularly complained that Jordan got calls other players wouldn't get.

Wayne Gretzky heard similar criticism during his NHL career. When you're the biggest star in the sport, officials naturally spend years watching you perform at an elite level.

Subconsciously, they can begin to assume that if a superstar goes down, there must have been a foul. If a superstar makes a play, there must have been a reason. That doesn't make the games rigged. It makes them human.

Baseball provided another classic example for decades. Before advanced pitch-tracking technology became commonplace, elite pitchers often seemed to get a slightly larger strike zone than lesser-known hurlers. On the other side, superstar hitters were more likely to receive the benefit of the doubt on close pitches. Umpires weren't part of a conspiracy. They were simply making judgment calls influenced by reputation and experience.

Messi fits into that same category today.

When you're widely considered one of the greatest footballers ever – in my opinion the best ever – your reputation inevitably follows you onto the field. Officials know who you are. They've seen you create magic for nearly two decades. Sometimes that reality can influence marginal decisions.

That's not proof of corruption. It's proof that sports are still officiated by people, not robots.

The truth is that Jordan got those calls. Gretzky got those calls. Baseball legends got those calls. And yes, Messi probably gets some of those calls too.

That's not a FIFA plot. That's the superstar effect, and it has existed for as long as sports have been played.
