As promised, let’s dive into the nightlife and supper club scene across the Côte d’Azur.
FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

As promised, let’s dive into the nightlife and supper club scene across the Côte d’Azur.
Monte Carlo
One of my favourite spots is Buddha-Bar Monte-Carlo. It's set in a stunning, house-like building tucked into a beautiful park surrounded by sculptures. It’s the perfect mix: Asian fusion, sushi, great cocktails, and shareable plates. As the night unfolds, the music builds and the whole place transforms into a full-on nightclub. The French really do supper clubs better than anywhere and dinner seamlessly turns into a party, sometimes without you even realizing it.
Then there’s Jimmy’z Monte-Carlo: an institution. It’s long been a celebrity magnet and one of the most famous clubs in Monaco. In my opinion, it’s not quite what it used to be, but that might just me, I’m no longer the target crowd. It leans heavily into EDM now, which still draws a big scene.
NICE is a bit different. It’s packed with bars along the endless boardwalk, plus tons of brasseries and outdoor dining spots. Great energy- but not necessarily a “supper club” destination in the same way.
Antibes
I love Antibes, but if you’re chasing a proper party or supper club night, I’d hop in an Uber and head about 30 minutes west to Cannes.
Cannes
This is the crown jewel of the party scene. Between the film festival and legendary beach clubs, it’s next level.
Start your day with a boat ride out to La Guérite, about 15 minutes offshore. You go for lunch, 3 pm seating and it quickly turns into a party just as dessert hits. Incredible Mediterranean food, unbeatable setting, and a vibe that builds naturally into something unforgettable. A must.
Back in town, La Petite Maison Cannes is another standout—breezy, vibrant, with perfectly executed dishes and just the right level of music. It’s effortlessly cool.
St. Tropez
If you make it this far west (and not everyone does), the port is where the magic happens. There are five or six great spots all lined up near Sénéquier- good food, great energy, and late nights.
And of course, the legendary L’Opéra Saint-Tropez. You can feel the buzz from the street- the performers, music, the whole scene- but to really experience it, you need to be inside. Just be ready, this place doesn’t hold back on pricing.

AI isn’t stealing your job… but it is changing it
If you’ve been side-eyeing AI every time you see a “we’re hiring less” headline, here’s a plot twist: it might not be the culprit — at least not yet.
According to new data from LinkedIn, hiring has dropped about 20% since 2022. But despite all the buzz (and anxiety), the platform says there’s no clear evidence that AI is driving the slowdown right now.
Instead, the dip seems more tied to broader economic factors — like higher interest rates — rather than robots quietly taking over entry-level roles. Even in fields people expected AI to disrupt first (think customer support, admin, marketing), the data hasn’t shown any unusual hiring drops.
So… no, AI hasn’t kicked down the office door just yet.
But before you fully relax, there’s a catch.
While jobs themselves aren’t disappearing en masse, the skills needed to do them are shifting fast. LinkedIn estimates that job skill requirements have already changed by about 25% in recent years — and that number could jump to 70% by 2030.
In other words, you might keep your job… but it won’t stay the same job.
The takeaway? It’s less about AI replacing people, and more about people needing to adapt alongside it. So if you’ve been thinking about picking up a new skill, this might be your sign — not out of panic, but just to stay ahead of the curve.
Because the future of work isn’t disappearing — it’s quietly updating. 💼🤖

🧠A Weekly Dose of Psychology You Didn’t Know You Needed 🧠
Hi everyone! I’m Maya, I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and Psychology (basically, I can analyze both a crime scene and your overly complicated coffee order). I’m also an incoming Master of Arts candidate in Counselling Psychology, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how the human brain works, and why it sometimes does the exact opposite of what we want it to do.
Psych Fact #43: Your brain is more creative when you’re slightly distracted.
Ever notice how your best ideas come in the shower, on a walk, or when you’re doing something completely unrelated? That’s not random. It’s your brain switching into what psychologists call the default mode network.
When you’re not fully focused on a task, your brain starts making loose, unexpected connections between ideas. It’s basically free-associating in the background, which is where creativity tends to come from.
On the flip side, when you try too hard to think of a good idea, your brain locks into focused mode, which is great for solving problems, but not for generating new ones.
So if you’re stuck on something, the answer might not be to push harder. It might be to step away, do something mindless, and let your brain wander a bit.
Your best ideas aren’t always forced. Sometimes they just show up when you stop looking for them.
Until next time,
Maya 🧠✨

CHRIS’ CORNER

It’s Past Time to Head to BMO Field
They may not always win, but Toronto FC are a lot more entertaining – and exciting – to watch this season.
Unbeaten in six games, the Reds have 3 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws so far and have yet to lose at home this season. This includes an exciting come from behind 3-2 win over Colorado a few weeks ago that featured three red cards, and the back-and-forth 3-3 draw against Austin last weekend where Toronto’s own Kobe Franklin tied the game late in the second half.
I was at both of those games, alternating between my son and daughter on who got to come with me, and they both had a fantastic time because there were lots of goals, action, and comebacks.
The supporters in attendance – both in the South End section and throughout the stadium – made it feel like a lot more people were at BMO Field, but in reality the stands were barely half full. It’s a shame that so many seats were empty for those and the other TFC matches this season.
Admittedly, with my kids’ own soccer schedules not always allowing for going to see TFC play live, I have only made it out twice so far. But at least my tickets were sold (for less than face value) or given away to friends to make sure someone was in my seats cheering on our Reds.
That’s what happened Wednesday night as TFC played to a super exciting 3-3 Philadelphia. And, at the time of this writing, we were 50-50 to make it out (due to soccer commitments) today (April 26). However, I can tell you that someone supporting the Reds sat in my seats and cheered them on.
Now, I understand spring weather in Toronto isn’t always conducive to an enjoyable experience in an outdoor stadium, but the last two matches I attended the weather was decent and mild (although a few showers came down in the Austin match).
On that note, I hope that the stadium is full this weekend and the coming home matches culminating with the May 9 visit by Inter Miami and the G.O.A.T. Leo Messi. After that, it will be over three months before Toronto FC plays at home again due to the World Cup.
That’s it for me! Ciao for Now!
