SFD SATURDAY MORNING WEEKLY 100

FRANKIE’S FAVOURITE EATERIES

Last week I had a real treat. We’ll call it the ultimate 9 and dine.
I got a last-minute call from my friend Ryan, who asked if I wanted to play Indian Creek. For most people, even golfers, you wouldn’t even know where this club is.
The club sits on Indian Creek, and it’s the most exclusive address/island/gated community on the planet. Lots are fetching 100 MIL+, and I think there are only around 50 of them.
The golf club is in the middle and has around 300 members, and it is definitely the most well-kept course I’ve ever played on. It’s like walking on clouds. The game was so fun, I can’t lie—we walked (with caddies), and I was so tired after nine that I asked my host if we could cut it at 9 (so embarrassing 🙈), but he agreed 👍🙂 and said, “Let’s hit lunch.”
On to lunch, and the reason you come here. LPM (La Petite Maison) Miami is an institution and is on the Brickell Bay side of Miami. It’s funny— as soon as I sat down to lunch, I saw a friend from Paris and two friends from Toronto. The word is out 🙈. Well, it has been forever. I have a close friend who lives in the building and says the new Japanese place next door is off the chains—let’s see.
When I hit LPM, I always do the same thing. They give you some veggies; I take the tomatoes and put them on my bread, smear some butter on my bread, cut the tomatoes on top, and put a little salt on them. I barely need anything else, but how embarrassing if I leave after the water, so that day I ordered one of their salads. It was the avocado version. The thing I love is that it’s so very French—not overly loaded with stuff, just great leaves with the right amount of vinegar and tartness. I split a steak with my friend and topped it off with a nice Earl Grey tea.
The perfect 9 and dine, in my opinion. I couldn’t even tell my buddy Gurdev that I didn’t play the entire 18; he would be so mad at me 🤦♀️. So would Chad, I think.
Check out LPM, or La Petite Maison, all over the world. They do a great job everywhere. It’s become an institution in a similar way that Milos has. They are able to keep a high level in many locations, which is so hard to do.
TECH SPOTLIGHT

Quick Tech Pulse ⚡
Tesla found itself in the regulatory fast lane this week after a California administrative law judge ruled that the company’s marketing around “Autopilot” and “Full Self-Driving” may have oversold what the software can actually do. The good news (for Tesla): sales in California aren’t stopping—at least not yet. The DMV is giving the company a 60-day window to tweak or clarify its language before any penalties kick in.
Tesla, for its part, says business will continue as usual and frames the decision as a disagreement over terminology rather than technology. Regulators, meanwhile, argue this is about setting clear expectations and keeping drivers safe as assisted-driving features become more common.
The bigger takeaway? As cars get smarter, words matter more than ever. Expect clearer labels, tighter definitions, and a lot more fine print as autonomy inches forward—slowly, carefully, and with regulators watching closely.

FRANKIE’S SONG OF THE WEEK
100 WEEKS OF POSITIVE MESSAGES
Frankie did 100 days of positive messages 3 years ago. He wanted to center them around mental health and positivity. We will post them each week for 100 weeks.

“It is great, but life is about quality not quantity 🤦♀️. Let’s just say I had a few too many last night.
Time for some alkaseltzer and another couple hours in bed.
I hope you have a beautiful day.”
🧠A Weekly Dose of Psychology You Didn’t Know You Needed 🧠
Hi everyone! I’m Maya, I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and Psychology (basically, I can analyze both a crime scene and your overly complicated coffee order). I’m also an incoming Master of Arts candidate in Counselling Psychology, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how the human brain works, and why it sometimes does the exact opposite of what we want it to do.
Psych Fact #24: Uncertainty is often more stressful to the brain than bad news.
The human brain hates “not knowing.” Research shows that when we’re uncertain about an outcome, the brain can stay in a prolonged state of alert, sometimes experiencing more stress than if the outcome were negative but clear. In other words, your brain would rather hear “this didn’t work out” than sit in endless what ifs.
This happens because uncertainty prevents closure. The brain keeps scanning for answers, burning energy and increasing anxiety, even when nothing is actually happening.
The upside?
Once you make a decision or get clarity, stress levels tend to drop quickly, even if the outcome isn’t ideal. That’s why taking a step forward often feels like relief.
So if you’re feeling stuck or restless, it may not be fear holding you back — it might just be your brain craving certainty.
Until next time,
Maya 🧠✨

CHRIS’ CORNER

‘Tis the Season for Wishful Thinking
It’s Christmas time again and I’ll be taking a much-needed break to hang with my family … though I may be doing another couple of blog posts and Chris’ Corner pieces during that time.
With that in mind, let’s do a Christmas Wish List for each of my favourite teams as we enter the season of giving.
In order of season’s ongoing/importance of events.
AS Roma. More scoring. From anyone and anywhere. A proven striker in the transfer market, one of the young guns on the stepping up their game, an experienced attacker taking the reins . . . even a full back or winger! Just more goals. If they had more scoring, Roma would still be in first place in Serie A, not fourth.
Toronto Raptors. Get back on track. Before RJ Barrett went down with injury, the Raptors were the talk of the league. Then they six of seven games losing streak (falling twice to the lowly Charlotte Hornets), were eliminated by the eventual champion New York Knicks in the NBA Cup quarterfinals and looked a bit lost at times. They bounced back with a win over the Miami Heat since, and my wish for them is to sustain that momentum.
Italian National Football Team. It’s a bit early, but my wish is a fully healthy squad that qualifies for the 2026 World Cup out of the UEFA playoffs in March.
Minnesota Vikings. Ending the season on a five-game winning streak (that includes a Christmas Day showcase against Detroit) and finishing 9-8. Sure, they’re going to miss the playoffs, but wins over the Lions, New York Giants, and then Green Bay Packers on the final day would make it sting less.
Toronto FC. A new Italian or even Argentinian (with Italian descent) designated player that fits the league, the team and their vision. Give us a guy like Sebastian Giovinco not a Lorenzo Insigne. Federico Bernadeschi had the right work ethic and abilities, but he was here at the wrong time and for the wrong price. We need a guy with his passion that is a bit younger and in the right spot for this team.
That’s it for me! Buon Natale!
